U.S. Senator John Cornyn's office announced on Friday, August 21st that Lindale will be receiving an $850,000 grant from the US Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration for infrastructure improvements in the Lindale Industrial Park.  Along with the grant, the Lindale Economic Development Corporation will spend approximately $550,000, along with a land match valued at $300,000.  The funds will be used to construct road, water and wastewater infrastructure on the 125-acre Lindale Industrial Park.

Lindale Economic Development Corporation purchased the 125-acre parcel in 2007 to develop out as an industrial park and has already announced a biomass power plant is expected to be constructed on a 42-acre parcel in the park.  Decker Energy, parent company for Lindale Renewable Energy optioned 42-acres for the plant in 2008 and hopes to break ground on the project in Spring of 2010.

According to Lindale Mayor Jim Mallory, "Lindale is a small city with a great deal of opportunities for the future,  Money is a tremendous part of planning so to get this is wonderful."

In a prepared statement, Cornyn said, "This is good news for the future of economic development in the area.  The investment will give a boost to the local economy by creating many jobs and I applaud the leaders who worked to secure this funding."
