Lindale EDC Teams With County for Road Project JWC | 20-May-2009
With the anticipation of a new power plant coming to the Lindale Industrial Park, Harvey Road (CR 433) south of Interstate 20 will need to be rebuilt and widened to accommodate truck traffic. After discussions at the staff between Lindale Economic Development Corporation officials and County Road and Bridge department staff, and subsequently with the County Commissioners that represent the Lindale area, the Smith County Commissioners Court has agreed, upon finalization of an inter-local agreement, to help upgrade Harvey Road (CR 433) in the area adjacent to the developing Lindale Industrial Park. In a win/win situation, Lindale EDC will provide the funds for materials, and the Smith County Road and Bridge Department will provide equipment, and labor to widen and strengthen the road. The Lindale City Council also approved the project and expressed their gratitude to the County for partnering on this project which is a win/win situation for all the parties involved. The project is expected to be undertaken in the Summer or Fall (2009). Upon completion, the road will be 32 ft wide and will be engineered to accept loaded 18-wheel vehicles. Lindale EDC provided engineering and geotech information to the County through an ongoing master planning contract the EDC has with Adams Engineering of Tyler.
