Tyler Junior College Opens Lindale Campus
07-Aug-2008
Tyler Junior College (TJC) and Lindale Economic Development Corporation and the Lindale Independent Schoold District have teamed up to open a Lindale Campus of TJC.  The campus is located in Identity Center at 2808 South Main Street.

The  TJC Lindale Career Center consists of two classrooms at this time.  Classes were held for the first time during the 2008 Summer II semester and additional classes will be held during the Fall 2008 and future semesters.  Subjects to be offered include primarily basic courses such as English, biology, and speech

TJC President, Dr. Mike Metke and TJC Provost, Dr. Mark Escamilla began searching for a possible Lindale facility in January 2008.  The new facility is part of an effort to "take our college to the people" and to increase TJC's presence north, south, east and west of Tyler, Dr. Metke said.

Dr. Metke experessed special appreciation to Lindale Economic Development Corporation board chairman, James K. "Red" Brown and Lindale ISD Superintendent, Stan Surratt for "making possible this important partnership."  Metke added, "The leadership in Lindale is as visionary and forward thinking as any group I've worked with, and we've never felt more welcome than here in Lindale."
