State Gives Employers a Yearlong Tax Break
11-Mar-2008
The following is a Press Release from the State of Texas:

STATE OF TEXAS WILL GIVE EMPLOYERS A YEARLONG TAX BREAK

Because of the low rate of jobless claims in Texas, employers will get a yearlong break from paying a portion of their unemployment-compensation taxes, Gov. Rick Perry's office announced Monday. The announcement follows a decision by the Texas Workforce Commission to quit levying the tax for calendar year 2008 because the unemployment-compensation fund has about $700 million more than state law requires it to maintain. The action comes even after the U.S. economy lost jobs for two months in a row and as many economists believe that the country may be moving into recession.
