Industrial Land Approved Jack Stein, Lindale News & Times | 22-Mar-2007
Room for industrial expansion was approved by the Lindale City Council Tuesday night following a presentation by Red Brown, chairman of the Lindale Economic Development Corporation (LEDC). The corporation will purchase two tracts of property near I-20 and the Target Distribution Center.
The first purchase will be a 105-acre tract near the southeast corner of Harvey Road and I-20 at a cost of $1,725,555. The second purchase will be for a 134-acre tract near the northwest corner of Harvey Road and I-20 at a cost of $2,065,815.
Brown said the land is to be used for recruitment of industry to help the city's future growth. "We need to move forward with the master plan," Brown commented. He noted that industry prefers not deal with individual property owners, but with groupls like the LEDC. The price is comparable to other similar tracts in the area. Both purchases were approved unanimously by the City Council.
